Owen Kelly

Owen Kelly grew up in Birkenhead, worked in Brixton, and now lives in Helsinki. He has worked in physical theatre and as a community artist, cultural consultant, computer trainer and web designer.

He has written several books, chapters and reports. The books include Community, Art & The State (1984), Culture & Democracy: the manifesto, with John Lock and Karen Merkel (1986), The Creative Bits, with Eva Wojdat (1994), Digital Creativity (1996), and Urban No-Mind (2012).

He completed a Doctor of Arts at Aalto University in 2015. You can download his exquisitely over-designed doctoral thesis Ambient Learning and Self Authorship from Dib Dib Dob.

He served for five years as a member of the board of Pixelache, a digital “arts” collective, and continues as an active member. He currently works as principal lecturer in online media at Arcada, a university of applied science in Helsinki.
