Monika Dutta is an award winning artist and filmmaker.
Her work is concerned with the tangible natural environment and the constructed realities of a culture driven by technology, as reflected through subtle and precarious relationships that exist between the Urban and the Rural.
Her practice derives from a cross disciplinary approach to methods and materials and brings together the disciplines of moving image; photography; drawing; sculpture; constructed textiles; performance and activism to produce works which collectively map the various ways in which we construct, experience and impact upon environment.
With Jake Harries, she makes work about the relationship between food production, energy consumption and the globalised market system in the context of climate change and social structures.
They use Art to examine and explore the existing relationships, and to forge new relationships, between technology and the natural world.
