Lucy Wright

Lucy Wright is an artist and researcher. Her work draws on her background in ethnomusicology and combines approaches from ethnography and social art.

Dominant themes in her work include cultural ownership and the diverse manifestations of ‘folk’ and ‘tradition’ in contemporary society.

Using critical inquiry and collaborative co-creation, her projects leverage informal and ‘grassroots’ cultural practices—particularly performance and making—to explore relationships between individuals, communities and institutions.

She received her PhD from Manchester School of Art in 2014 and currently works as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds.
